A caricaturist, illustrator, painter, satirist, & editor educated in Vienna and Lviv. A leading figure in Ukrainian satirical art, he founded and edited the influential humor magazine Lys Mykyta and became internationally known for his political caricatures, including widely published depictions of Joseph Stalin. He immigrated to the US (1949) and continued his artistic and editorial work, exhibited widely, & produced paintings and drawings rooted in folk themes, expressive color, and sharp wit.
