He immigrated to the US (1949) via a DP camp in Germany. Wyznyckyj graduated from the National Academy of Design in New York (1954). Since 1964 the artist also exhibited solo, especially after opening his own gallery in Hunter, NY in 1979. Wyznyckyj traveled extensively, including to Nepal, Burma and Ukraine. Known mainly as a landscape painter, he also painted portraits, still lifes, and flowers.
