A printmaker, sculptor, and graphic artist, classically trained in Warsaw and Zagreb before immigrating to the US in 1949. Best known for his meticulously crafted woodcuts and linocuts depicting flora and fauna which he printed by hand and developed
under the influence of Japanese woodblock prints and Albrecht Dürer. He exhibited widely, designed books and postage stamps, and his works are held in major museum collections worldwide.
