FIEND is a David vs Goliath thriller of Stalinist Russia which traces some key origins of the Ukraine vs Russia enmity. The Goliath here is the great tyrant Joseph Stalin who claws his way to the top of the Russian leadership through an endless series of murders, blackmails, and staged trials. Conversely, Maxym Voak, an 18 year old Ukrainian fugitive from Stalin's Gulag, stumbles upon a great secret, a proverbial David's sling, which can destroy the seemingly invincible dictator Stalin. However, unlike David, he cannot hurl this stone alone, and needs help. In an incredible twist of historic irony the two unlikely allies that join him in his impossible quest are Stalin's mistress and Stalin's Chief of Secret Police.
