Robert Maniscalco is a nationally renowned, Charleston-based multidisciplinary creative.

According to the artist, "Of course, Nonno is Italian for Grandpa. This man feels like someone's grandpa. Loving and stern. He is the epitome of Old School. I got into it pretty good. Nonno is more "finished" than some of my other works. But, to be sure, Nonno was created "all Prima," that is to say, all at once. When the paint begins to set, the artwork is finished. Nonno called out to be more detailed and hyper real than other subjects. Still there is quite a lot of imposto, that is, thick brush work. I wanted to capture the cray paper skin and the wrinkles that only come out of a simple wisdom. Nonno is for the collector of deep, thoughtful portraits, those that tell a story, one that we can write ourselves."
