Reading Of Ukrainian Poetry

Join us for this bi-lingual reading of Ukrainian poems from Iryna Starovoyt's book Field of Foundlings translated by Grace Mahoney.

"In a time where the chaos and power of forces beyond our own seem to diminish the potency of the past. Starovoyt's poems invoke a conscious dialogue with the past that is not severed from the ever changing present, but echoes in our sense of self, brings some continuity to our daily decisions and orients us toward the future."

Olexander Kaniuka | Artist’s Story of Survival, Courage and Art

The Ukrainian American Archives and Museum of Detroit invites you to learn more about this fascinating man.

Dr. Andrew Dzul will speak about noted graphic artist Olexander Kaniuka. He endured his village's sovietization, Soviet justice, years in a labor camp, a German POW camp and a true escape West. He wasn't just lucky. He survived using his wits, his courage and his art. Much of these works are the artist’s impressions of Ukrainian resistance to Soviet occupation.

Exhibition until May 28, 2018!
